The Big Picture: Finding Peace with Life’s Hardest Questions
At some point in recovery, we all face the "Why?" Why me? What is the point of all this? What do I do with the time I have left? These aren’t just philosophical puzzles—they are the core of our mental health. In this group, we explore the four "givens" of the human experience: meaning, freedom, isolation, and mortality. By discussing these openly, we take away their power to cause us dread and instead use them as a foundation for a courageous life.
What to Expect
This is a "deep dive" space where no topic is too big or too heavy. We move beyond daily symptoms to look at the architecture of your life. We will explore:
Making Sense of Suffering: Learning how to transform past pain into a source of wisdom and strength.
The Weight of Freedom: Accepting that while we cannot control what happens to us, we have the ultimate freedom to choose our response.
Confronting "The Void": Addressing the feelings of emptiness or "boredom" that often trigger a desire to escape or use substances.
Living with Intention: Using the reality of our limited time to prioritize what actually matters, right now.
Why It Matters
Many relapses happen not because of a "craving," but because of a sense of existential emptiness—a feeling that life lacks a core purpose. By doing "Depth Work," you build a philosophical anchor. When you have a clear understanding of your place in the world and your personal "truth," you no longer need to numbing agents to quiet the roar of the "Big Questions."
