Our Founder's Story

Many of the innovative programs and services offered at Red Door Life were co-developed by Alex Shohet and Bernadine Fried, LMFT.  Bernadine and Alex met when they were in college in 1982 and were actively using drugs.  After they recovered, Alex Shohet started and led a few successful technology companies. At the same time, Bernadine Fried, LMFT, became a leader in the treatment of trauma and substance use disorders.

In 2005, they joined forces to improve the broken system of addiction and mental health treatment services by disrupting the antiquated care models that plague the industry.   Almost 20 years later, the model of care they developed and their groundbreaking innovations give the Red Door community members an unparalleled opportunity to achieve a life of abundance, meaning, health, and wellness.
